Audiobook giveaway + May's LFT

I'm doing a flash audiobook giveaway of IF I SPEAK TRUE! Also, considering how crazy-busy everything is this time of the year, I thought I'd put together a post sharing what's coming up, rather than and end-of-the-month, what's already passed. (That's where the LFT comes in, which stands for May's "looking forward to".)

So, first, the audiobook giveaway:

I'm giving away a total of THREE audiobooks of IF I SPEAK TRUE, book one in the Flora series. This giveaway is going to be posted on more than one platform, with ONE audiobook given away here on Rafflecopter, one on Facebook, and one on Instagram. It's a quick, two-day giveaway, just for fun. (Psst: if the series has sparked your interest, the ebooks--Rowan's novella, especially--are quite fairly-priced. :D )

Next, here's a giveaway that ends in two days... Beth Revis' PAPER HEARTS series (original post):

and, coming up this month...

May 7th: My 19th wedding anniversary! Oh, wait.

May 7th: The Lonely Ones by Kelsey Sutton excerpt. Find Kelsy and/or The Lonely Ones on:

Coming up the entire month of June: YA Reads' DEBUT AUTHOR BASH! (Sign-ups are closed, but if you'd like to get an idea of just how many awesome-sauce YA authors will be featured this year, check out this post.)

Dig Too Deep

I'll be featuring Amy Allgeyer, author of DIG TOO DEEP, on June 3rd!

And that's about it! :) Have a blessed week!

$10 FLORA SUPER SALE: Buy IF I SPEAK TRUE *and/or* OPEN THY HEART, get Rowan's novella, FREE!

Yep! This is happening!

Purchase If I Speak True or Open Thy Heart
for only $10 and get By Sun & Candlelight, free
(plus free shipping)!*

*US only. Sale ends Sunday, 12/6 at 11:59 p.m. PST. Payments via PayPal, only.

This is a great deal and you can use it many ways. For example:

+ Scenario #1: You've seen IF I SPEAK TRUE around the interwebs, but haven't been sure whether or not a girl named Dahlia going to a place called Ambrosia and meeting a mysterious masked man named Rowan who is quite the looker (well, as much as she can see, anyway) who seems to know things even she doesn't know about her family is really something you want to read. Never mind that Dahlia has to hide these visitation/interactions from her bestest friends and family (especially her Aster, her "Ass-y" sister) back in Shaver, or the fact that um, Rowan really brings out the fire in her... if you know what I mean. *wink* Plus, he's got all of these secrets and there's got to be a reason he's keeping them... Wait, hmm... perhaps this is really your kind of read... It seems fun, and the covers are really pretty!

Solution: Well, IF I SPEAK TRUE is only ten dollars... Why not buy the darn thing (and get it signed to you, too)? There's free shipping... now that you think about it, this is one of those bookish deals you totes shouldn't refuse! And then if you like Rowan and want to know more about him and what makes him the hot kind lovely mysterious guy that he is, boom! You've already got his novella, BY SUN & CANDLELIGHT because it was FREE!!!

+ Scenario #2: You've already read IF I SPEAK TRUE and think a friend would love it (signed and personalized to them, obviously) but really want to read about Rowan and the rest of the Ambrosian's shenanigans (oh, and, you know, how Rowan feels about Dahlia from his perspective, because that's important). Also: What's this about a fox named Clementine? And a bet between Rowan and Briscoe????

Solution: Get IF I SPEAK TRUE for your friend (what a dear you are!) and have the novella signed to you!

+ Scenario #3: You've already read IF I SPEAK TRUE and really want to check out OPEN THY HEART but the idea of getting IF I SPEAK TRUE for a friend sounds really fun (because bookish convos and fangirling), but the novella deal (that's a $9 value, free!) is too good to refuse!

Solution: Buy IF I SPEAK TRUE *and* OPEN THY HEART and receive a free novella with each (for a total of $20)! That's $30 being saved, not counting what you're saving with free shipping!

+ Scenario #4: You've read IF I SPEAK TRUE and are totally interested in Rowan's point of view in BY SUN & CANDLELIGHT, but more IMPORTANTLY, what is this you keep hearing about David's birthday party, and some big secret of Dahlia's that gets out, and Tuberose being a psycho, and Aster (of all people) helping Dahlia?

Solution: Buy OPEN THY HEART for yourself, and get Rowan's novella FREE! Two books for you, for only $10! That's a win-win!

If you're *still* not sure if Rowan or David the Flora series is for you, why not watch the book trailer (HERE) or see what people thought about the series (HERE and HERE--careful, there might be spoilers)?

Mind made up? Yay! Email me at coffeelvnmom at gmail dot com for personalization and payment info today!

September's #JLBgivesawayanINDIE (audiobook style): IF I SPEAK TRUE + I CAPTURE THE CASTLE + a FREEBIE!

I'm so excited about this month's #JLBgivesawayanINDIE. I MEAN... how exciting is three audiobooks?

First up: the recently completed IF I SPEAK TRUE, book one in the Flora series. Angel Clark did a wonderful job narrating her versions of Dahlia and Eva and David and Rowan (and Hawthorne) and Aster and Acacia... and... everyone else (hehe). I'm so happy with how the audiobook turned out, and wanted to share a copy so ya'll could enjoy it (and meet everyone)!

Check out the deets on IF I SPEAK TRUE (Flora, #1) HERE. Find it on Amazon | Barnes & Noble | The Book Depository

Then, on a completely unrelated note (or, unrelated until now), it seems I've been talking to quite a few people lately about how lovely Dodie Smith's I CAPTURE THE CASTLE is (if you're read it, you know it's true), especially on Instagram. So I thought, all right, time to share a copy of this audiobook, too. :)

Check out the deets of I CAPTURE THE CASTLE, HERE. Find it on Amazon | Barnes & Noble | The Book Depository

ON TOP OF THAT... We're all SUPER BUSY this time of year but also wanting to read ALL THE BOOKS, right, so I figured, why not throw in a freebie? *twirls*

So there you go... THREE audiobooks for one winner: IF I SPEAK TRUE, I CAPTURE THE CASTLE, and a YA audiobook of your choice! Woohoo!

The rules: I have had a heck of a time trying to share audiobooks with listeners not from the US recently, so I'm going to have to stick to the US this time. *sad face* But I promise, next month's #JLBgivesawayanINDIE will be international!

And now, here's the Rafflecopter! :D (I can't wait to see who wins and what book they choose for the freebie!)

Crepes, #LibrarySignUpMonth, a bribe + more: this week's writerly news

It's Friday! Which means I'm back with more writerly news.

This week's quick summary:

1) Sunday was Grandparents Day, and we celebrated by making dessert crepes (so yum) and giving the grandparents "crepe-tastic grandparent" certificates. Here's my go-to crepe recipe. Throw a sprinkling of mini-chocolate chips inside and serve with maple syrup or add cream cheese and serve with your favorite berry syrup. A-mazing.

2) Monday and Tuesday, Beryl, Audrey, and Kimi of Geeky Chiquitas were here for a two-part Reader Interview. They're very busy gals and I really appreciated them taking the time to answer my questions!

A sneak peek... Click the link below to see
him in all his ferocious glory.
3) Wednesday, I introduced you to LMTYAS's new mascot, who, basically, thinks he's as scary as the Big Bad Wolf. (Please go along with me on this and agree, or he'll poop in my shoes). I also basically beg ya'll to help me out by bribing you with money and a vlog. But the most important part of this is the new mascot. (Just kidding. It's the bribe.)

I was also over at Operation Awesome comparing my favorite holey sweatpants to revising.

Find this beauty and more on IIST's board.
This reminds me of Shoreline Books.
4) Speaking of bribing, even with If I Speak True being only 99 cents, I realize that, as a reader, sometimes you just need that extra push to check out something new, and I have the solution: IF I SPEAK TRUE's Pinterest board.

5) ALSO: In the chaos of doing lots of stuffs, I accidentally ordered two By Sun and Candlelight proofs, so guess what? I've added one to Amber's Swag September Giveaway. I'm going to write lots of behind-the-scenes info in it for the winner! YAY!

6) Last, September is #LibrarySignUpMonth. (For comic book fans, there's also some cool posters of Stan Lee at that link.) In order to share the #booklove, I'd like to give anyone who signs up for a card between now and the end of the month a small book swag pack! Tag me on Instagram, tweet me, or email me a photo of you and your new card, and I'll get some swag to ya!

Well, I do believe that's it. I'll be back Monday to celebrate OPEN THY HEART's release (please come back and join me in the festivities)!!!

Have a blessed weekend!!!

Quick request = vlog as your reward + meet LMTYAS's new mascot!

This is Killer, LMTYAS's new mascot. Killer is wearing a mask
here because he's trying to be like Rowan from If I Speak True.
(Even though the mask isn't exactly spot-on, I'd say he's kinda...
kill-ing it. Wouldn't you? Ha. Ha ha ha.) Killer's here today to
implore you to help me out, because he really wants me to
embarrass myself on a vlog. I'm kinda annoyed about that.

Hey guys! I have a quick request. I'm wanting to share IF I SPEAK TRUE's 99 cent sale price with a website that shares ebook sales in their newsletter (ya know, because OPEN THY HEART comes out Monday and you kinda need to read IIST first, or *spoilers*), but in order to be approved, I have to have at least ten reviews on Amazon (or B&N).

Thing is, I have MORE reviews than that on Goodreads, but Goodreads doesn't count! *sad face*

So...

For those of you who:

HAVE read it and already posted a review it on Goodreads: Would you take a moment perty please share it at Amazon (or B&N), too???

Have NOT read it but feel inspired to check it out while it's 99 cents (choose the site of your choice over there on the sidebar -->): and want to review it out of the kindness of your hearts, would you do the same?

I would really, really appreciate it.

In order to make this worth your while, and to say that I owe you my life  appreciate you,  I thought I'd thank you by doing a little vlog. (I've only done one in five years and it was for a few seconds and only on my FB page and yeah--have fun trying to find it hahahaha--wait, no come back here, don't search for it I beg of you.)

So... Here's the deal.

If I reach ELEVEN total reviews on Amazon (or Barnes and Noble)--that's six more than I have now--I'll do the vlog AND give something away via Rafflecopter. (Hint: it's an annotated paperback, and starts with BY.)

If I reach TWENTY reviews on Amazon (or Barnes and Noble), I'll do the vlog, give away the secret paperback, AND Killer will give away a Red Riding Hood DVD (because he thinks he's a killer like the wolf and we're just going to let him live a state of denial, okay?).

And, if for some crazy reason, more than THIRTY reviews (total) end up on either Barnes and Noble or Amazon, I'll do the vlog, the annotated something-or-other paperback, Killer will give away Red Riding Hood (ruff), AND I'll give away a $10 Amazon e-gift card.

YAY!

And remember, you don't have to sugar-coat your review; just be honest and say what you think. :)

Thanks for taking the time to read this, everyone! (I'd say please don't make me embarrass myself, but I sort of need you to.)

Be blessed!

P.S. OPEN THY HEART comes out MONDAY. *squee*

P. S. S. If you want to know what happens after IF I SPEAK TRUE and BY SUN & CANDLELIGHT, you can pre-order OPEN THY HEART HERE.

P. S. S. S. I just realized I'm doing it wrong; it's supposed to be P. P. P. S.

P. P. P. P. S. This vlog thing is already freaking me out.

P. P. P. P. P. S. Killer says that if you email him at coffeelvnmom (at) gmail (dot) com, directing him to your review, he'll send you a signed Flora bookmark.

P. P. P. P. P. P. S. Forgot to enter a deadline: let's say this vlog/giveaway offer ends September 26th, at 11:59 p.m. PST.

This week's writerly news + @STbende's Book Birthday Bash

Hey, guys! (Like my new PIAO edit below?) It's the second to last week of school for my girls, which means chaos, so this'll be a quick post.

1) This month's Reader Interview was with @MattCrazy_ ... if you have a chance, head over HERE to his two-part interview, and leave some love on his posts!

2) Starting this evening, Pity Isn't An Option's e-book will be 99 cents and If I Speak True's e-book will be $1.99 on Amazon in celebration of summer break. (Click on the Amazon icon on my sidebar to go straight to them.)

If you'd love to read e-books but don't have an e-reader, never fear... There are Kindle apps for pretty much every mobile device now (and even your PC) and they're free! Just click HERE!

**Side note: Both PIAO and IIST are also in the Kindle Matchbook program... meaning, if you purchase the paperback of either book, you receive the e-book of that same item, FREE! (Keep one, give one away! YAY!) Just scroll down a bit until you see the Kindle Matchbook option to learn more!

3) Tonight at 9:50 EST I will be celebrating my great pal ST's re-release of Elkser (think Thor, but of him as more romantical--it's a fun series) at an event she's throwing on Facebook and I'd love to see you guys over there! There will be lots of giveaways by lots of different authors (from YA to adult, I believe, so keep that in mind... not all time slots will be YA). Click HERE to see who else will be there, bookmark the event, or RSVP! I'm going to give away e-books, some book swag, and more! (My giveaway will be international.)

4) The month of July is very exciting for me, as By Sun and Candlelight will be out and Open Thy Heart (Flora, #2)'s cover will be revealed! Wahoo! PLUS, Hafsah is making some Flora bookmarks for me to give away soon! So stay tuned!

5) Last but not least, the #JLBgivesawayaDVD giveaway of Forever Strong ends tonight. Click here to enter. Here's next month's giveaway (starts Monday).

HAVE A BLESSED WEEKEND, YOU GUYS! :D

This week's writerly news + my reaction to Arrow's finale

So... you've probably noticed it's been a little quiet over here. That's because I'm working on edits for BY SUN AND CANDLELIGHT (in fact, I'm hoping to share a teaser from BSaC next Friday. We'll see.) and this time of year is always crazy. (I still can't believe in a few short weeks I'll officially have THREE daughters in high school. Goodness.)

Before I get into the most recent news, a quick shout out to my fellow Arrow fans: How 'bout that season finale? I was missing all of the action, and a lot of things that had been left hanging were wrapped up (kinda), so that was nice. I know a lot of Olicity shippers were like this...

and then... something happened. The shippers at that point:

Me:
HAHAHA

What I'm most excited about though, is Flash, coming this fall. (For those of you who do not watch Arrow, Grant Gustin was in a couple of episodes earlier this season, setting up the show.) Here's the trailer:

And now, for a quick update...

News/Noteworthy

** IF I SPEAK TRUE is finally available on iBooks (link) and available for Nook (link), too. (I will have a one-click button added to the sidebar over there --> shortly.)

Speaking of Nook and iBooks, there are a few reviews on Goodreads and a couple on Amazon (this goes for PITY ISN'T AN OPTION, too), but if any of you have a moment and can share your review also on Barnes and Noble or iBooks (or add your Goodreads review to Amazon, Barnes and Noble, or iBooks), I would really appreciate it. (Like I've said before, I would love to send some book swag as a thank you, so please message me if you want some!) A lot of readers *not* internet savvy never go to Goodreads, so sharing the reviews on other places is beneficial to authors, especially indies. :)

** Apparently, I wasn't thinking straight and offered to upload a video of myself soon. (Must have been low on my chocolate intake or something.) So... yeah. I will try to do one next week. *cringes at the thought*

** Coming up at the end of the month, my pal ST Bende (who writes about Norse mythology--think Thor kind of stuff) is celebrating the re-release of her book, Elkser, with an Elkser bash on Facebook. A few of us are showing up for a few minutes and doing giveaways and stuff, so here's the deets on that.  (Quick note: Some of the authors write adult or new adult, so please be advised that some of the convos might not be YA appropriate, though my time slot and the following one--9:40 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. Pacific Time--definitely will be.)

If you'd like to check out Tur, ST's prequel novella to Elkser, the ebook is free everywhere (here's the link to it on Amazon).

Giveaways

In case you somehow missed it, I'm super-excited about this month's #JLBgivesawayaDVD, and totally think you should enter, because... Forever Strong. That's really all I have to say, because I love this movie. And Sean. Hee hee. (Giveaway link)

Around the interwebs

* This week I was at Operation Awesome talking about looking at our writing in a new light (link).

No new music to share, but I am back to making cold oatmeal again, since it's already triple-digit heat here, so I thought I'd share it. My favorite is the blueberry:

Blueberry Maple Refrigerator Oatmeal

Have a blessed weekend, everybody!

This week's writerly news + #giveaway update

Friday + the beginning of a three day weekend + the last day of If I Speak True's blog tour + I'm expecting a book in the mail = this face!!! Excitement overload!!!

Here's a quick rundown to keep everyone in the "know":

1) I was blessed to be interviewed by Kristen Jett (@KristenJett) for a feature on Pub Hub (formerly YA Stands), and had the pleasure of discussing many things, including the similarities and differences between Pity Isn't An Option and If I Speak True; which YA book has affected me most; and (probably most importantly), a popular fandom question: Gale, or Peeta? (You know you want to know! *winks*) (LINK)

2) If you have taken the time to review Pity Isn't An Option or If I Speak True on a purchase site like Amazon or Barnes and Noble (or plan to in the future), I would love to send you some bookmarks as a thank you! Just email me at coffeelvnmom (at) gmail (dot) com with a link to your review, and I will pop some in the mail! :) Reviews help readers choose what to read next, which, in turn, helps authors, as it gets our books into readers' hands! (Yay!)

3) Though the blog tour ends today, the giveaway goes on until Monday the 10th, so if you're looking to get in a few more entries before the winner is drawn, here ya go! :)

US giveaways:

International giveaway:

Well, I think that's it... have a blessed weekend, everyone, and READ/WRITE ALL THE THINGS!!! :D

Me. I call this "The Excited Shuffle".
Today is If I Speak True's "official" release day, which means that the blog tour has officially begun! *does shuffle*

Here's some of the swag I've been accumulating for the giveaways (US and International) including the totes Katie made and the buttons Hafsah made for me, too:

Close up of the buttons --
those are actual pages from the book!
Also, Katie--not to be confused with Kate, my blog tour lady--who made the totes for the giveaway (I almost said, Katie, who totes made the totes for the giveaway... Aren't you glad I refrained myself???) has a post up on her (amazing) blog regarding her method for making them. You can check it out HERE. (She also has a ton of really cool craft ideas--you might want to look around a little!)

Last, I thought I'd share the schedule here so you can check out the various posts throughout the next two weeks (and show the lovely bloggers who so graciously offered to feature If I Speak True some major love). A big shout-out to Kate who scheduled everything (that's her badge below, isn't it the cutest?)--thanks so much for everything you did to get this going, milady!

LOTS OF EXCLAMATION POINTS -- this week's writerly news

Just a quick warning: This post is going to be full of exclamation points. (!!!!!)

Hey, all! It's Friday! Which means that, in a couple of days, If I Speak True's blog tour will begin! This is me right now:

And guess what? Both the ebook AND paperback are already available on Amazon! (Please again refer to the above gif.) (link)

Also, today the giveaway on Goodreads finally appeared! (link) The giveaway is US only though--sorry guys--because the cost of mailing books is INSANE. (I will share the blog stops, though, throughout the tour, starting Monday, so ya'll can enter to win stuff here AND internationally that way.)

Another thing: the first review came in today--thanks, Beryl!!! (Do I need to mention the above gif?) (link)

There are only a couple more posts on my Tumblr If I Speak True photo-a-day feature... please check it out if you have a chance because the photos and excerpts really do give you a great visual of the storyline! (Remember to start at the first ever entry of the book's cover if this is the first time visiting, and work your way up and to the first page!) (link)

And, last but most certainly not least...

Though I haven't done this in YEARS... I am so excited about If I Speak True's release and the fact that Rowan's novella is almost done and the second book is well under way that I just HADDDDD to share an excerpt from the novella. (SQUEE) This is Rowan and Briscoe at Castle Lennox (Rowan's POV, obviously). Please keep in mind that this is a work in progress and has not yet been edited (or revised) so (minor) things will most likely be changed. Enjoy!

***

I wave my hand. “I was angry at first, I am not going to lie. You had no right to--”

“Yes, I know,” Briscoe interrupts, “and that is why I came today, to tell you--”

“Will you let me finish?”

He clamps his mouth shut and nods.

“You had no right to step in and tell Dahlia the severity of the situation," I continue, "Not because she does not deserve to know--we know she does, she is a part of Ambrosia... but with us being unsure how long it will be until she can come back, sending her home with more reasons to be concerned whilst there, unable to speak to anyone about it at all, is not the proper way to go. But..."

Briscoe's eyes widen. “Yes?”

“But once we arrived back last night, it occurred to me what you were doing. And for that, I am grateful.”

“She needed to know," he says, sucking in a deep breath, "and you did not want her mad at you--”

“Well that did not exactly happen.” I rub my arm, and we both laugh. The tension dissipates, and I know Briscoe is back to being my brother again.

“But I knew you would not want all of that animosity aimed at you, for who knows how long.”

“I appreciate it. I am sorry for not recognizing it sooner.”

“It did make for a good show." Briscoe grins. He gets in my face and growls. “You are out of line!”

“I am sure I was not that dramatic.” I chuckle, shoving him away.

“No,” He rolls his eyes, “You were more.”

“One day, one day you will see, brother. A lady will look up at you through thick eyelashes of wonder and your heart will stop and your body will melt into pitch and you will lose all reason and want to follow her wherever she goes.”

“Is that what Dahlia makes you want to do? Follow her to Shaver?”

“Dahlia…” I set a hand on his shoulder. “Dahlia makes me want to bring her here and destroy both the Door and the Gate, so she can never leave again.”

***

Hope you enjoyed it! Thank you for putting up with my exclamation points!!!

Have a blessed weekend and see ya'll here on Monday! :D

If I Speak True photo feature -- this week's writerly news

What I imagine to be Bluffs Beach in Ambrosia. See Crowe Island?

Hey all! :) Being as it's kinda crazy around here, I don't really have much of an update, other than to share that the feature I spoke of last week about posting daily photos/excerpts of If I Speak True on my Tumblr account is in full swing. (Yay!) If you'd like to check out the first five posts or simply follow it daily as I post but don't have/want a Tumblr account, click HERE at any time (this link will take you to those posts only)!

Oh, and make sure to scroll down and start at the beginning, with the book cover!!!

Have a blessed and productive weekend, everyone! :D

Celebrating a Blessed New Year & 200 followers + writerly news

Hello, everyone! Happy 2014!!!

I'm going to keep this post short because I'm sure everyone has tons of stuff going on (and I don't have a whole lot to say anyway), but I just had to say YAYYYYY because I have hit 200 followers! Woohoo! Took me a few years, but that's okay -- I appreciate every single one of you guys!
I had to add a She's the Man gif. Pretend this is
me embracing ya'll, all awkward-like. ;D
Because that's how I roll.

In celebration of IF I SPEAK TRUE's release later this month (and heck, also the whole 200 follower thing), PITY ISN'T AN OPTION's ebook is only 99 cents on Amazon!!! (Unless you purchase the paperback and do the Kindle Matchbook option where you get the paperback AND ebook -- in that case, the PIAO ebook is free!) So, if you've been debating whether or not to get to know Beanie and Hattie, well, now is the perfect time. (You can actually go straight to Amazon right over there ----> in the sidebar.)

Speaking of Beanie (Jonas) and Hattie, verrrry early on first day of 2014, a whole bunch of ideas swarmed into my head about Jonas and Mercy Cove--where he ends up in book two--and it was so great! I am very excited to continue his journey. A lot of stuff happens and I know you'll fall in love with a couple of new characters just as much as I have! Plus, with so many ideas coming to me already, it's a picture of just how amazing this year is going to be, writerly-wise. Which is... AWESOME! I am very excited!!!

Last, (told you this was going to be short), come January 6th (technically Dahlia Kennedy's birthday), I will be doing something on Tumblr to commemorate IF I SPEAK TRUE coming out the 27th. Basically, each day from January 6th to January 27th, I'll be telling the story of IF I SPEAK TRUE in chronological order in photo form. So, if that sounds like something you'd enjoy, head over HERE and follow me (or just check this link out throughout the month). I've spent quite a bit of time trying to come up with just the right visuals, and hope you enjoy it!

Well I do believe that's it. I am looking forward to a wonderful year! Have a blessed weekend!
